Bed Room Skill, How To decorate BedRoom

Bed Room Skill

You’re going to spend about 200,000 hours of your life in your bedroom. Just to put that in perspective, get this: if you spent all that time walking instead, you’d circumnavigate the earth 25 times.

Your bedroom should be the place where you find peace. It’s where you sleep, love, dream, and are oftentimes the most vulnerable. “You want the space to be a calming refuge,” says Alexander Reid, a head stylist at One Kings Lane. “You want to simply unplug and feel safe.”

Your bedroom is your private sanctuary where you relax and sleep like a baby. This room needs to comfortable, functional and have everything that satisfies your relaxing mood.

It can be tough to strike that right note, but it’s worth trying. A bedroom that makes you feel good can do wonders for your state of mind. Here are some SKILLS to get you there:

Soft Landing Spot

Actually, as the name of the room suggests, the main thing in the bedroom is your bed. The irony is that we often replace Its Majesty the Bed with something less comfortable but more convenient, for example, a sofa or an inflatable mattress. As they usually write in essays, all these options have their advantages and disadvantages, but the point is that you need something to sleep on. I am an avid advocate of real beds wherever possible, but if it is not possible because of little room available or for any other reason, feel free to turn your bedroom into… hmmm… a sofa room.

A Comfortable Rug

Sinking your toes into a cushy rug can make any morning awesome. Basically, if you don’t have a rug in your bedroom, you’re missing out. If you already have carpet, but it’s not as luxurious as you might have hoped, add a smaller, plush rug by the bed.
Whichever flooring you choose, you can hardly imagine a cozy bedroom without a nice rug. This little (or probably not that little, depending on your choice) thing can change the whole bedroom dramatically. Even the most up-to-date and trendy bedroom is likely to benefit from a fluffy bedside rug on which you will step down every morning.

Mirror

Not only will a full-length mirror let you double-check your outfit every day, adding a large mirror to the space will help make your bedroom feel more spacious.

his part is certainly true for girls and boys alike. I am sure you have a nice mirror in the bathroom, but sometimes you have to check your look before you step across the threshold of your bedroom. It is common knowledge that mirrors are real lifesavers for small rooms because they create the illusion of more space and light. So, unless you have spectrophobia or can’t get over the shock caused by The Mirrors film, having a mirror in your bedroom is a good idea.

Layers and Texture

A small bedroom can be cozy, so play that up with the addition of textures you love! Add several pillows in various touch-worthy fabrics, a warm textured throw blanket for chilly nights, floor to ceiling drapery so you’ll feel all tucked in your nest, and a soft rug that helps to ground the space.

Artwork, Placed at 57” from the Floor

A bedroom without artwork on the walls is like a blank canvas of boring. If your bedroom is lacking, it’s time to change that. Almost any type of artwork will do, except for family photographs – this is actually a feng shui no-no! When it comes to bedroom decor, family photographs are considered too “emotionally charged,” and can disrupt intimacy.

Tip: Hang each piece of artwork at 57″ on center, meaning the center of the artwork is exactly 57” from the floor. For more tips, read about how to properly hang and frame your artwork.

The Right Scent

Whether you prefer candles, reed diffusers or all-natural air fresheners, a fresh-smelling bedroom can go a long way when it comes to enjoying this space. We recommend trying lavender linen spray for a mellow, floral fragrance. Bonus: Lavender can actually improve your sleep. (Yes, really!)

Wall Hooks or Shelves

Wall Hooks or Shelves | Skill And Tech

There is nothing more valuable in your bedroom than vertical wall space (especially if your room is lacking in square footage). Add wall hooks or shelving to hold scarves, jackets, books, plants and whatever else you want to display in your bedroom.

Bedside table / nightstand

While we are on the subject of bedside essentials, a bedside table is a must in any bedroom. In my humble opinion, there should be a place within arm’s reach where you can put your smartphone, glasses, coffee mug, wet wipes, and dozens of other things that you may need to be handy. I have to admit that I judge by myself, and I am definitely not the laziest person in the world! So, think of a stylish nightstand for your most precious possessions.

Convenient sockets

Let’s face it: we all like to spend loads of time on the Internet, and often do it in our bedrooms. In some places where I lived, convenient sockets were more like a rosy dream than a reality, so I spent quite a lot of time untangling extension cords. Now I always pay attention to this aspect when planning a new project and highly recommend you to do the same.

Light source

I have always been an avid advocate of spot lighting, but if you prefer one luxurious chandelier, why not? The thing is to make it convenient according to your needs. Light dimmers are also a good idea: you will get the right mood any time by switching from bright day-like light to romantic ambience. As for windows, I always recommend utilizing them as much as possible: instead of draping them with heavy curtains, try to let more light in! (Unless you have too nosy neighbors, in which case ignore this recommendation.)

Wall décor

Walll Decor | Skill And Tech

It is a particularly difficult subject to give general advice on, but I will try to share my knowledge in the most unobtrusive way possible. Monochrome walls can look stylish, but our eye is structured so that it looks for interesting details everywhere. If nothing is to be seen, we feel bored. Wall décor can take different forms, meaning that you are not obliged to hang a golden-framed picture on every wall. Paintings, posters, photos, panels, murals, collections of postcards or graduate caps… I could go on and on but I think you’ve got the idea: turning a dull wall into a work of art is simpler than it seems.

Something natural

Even if you choose a high-tech style for your bedroom, it is the place where you are supposed to relax. Metal and plastic are like energetic vampires, so there should be something natural in your bedroom to serve as an energy source. Options vary, so you can choose something that suits your style: plants and aquariums, wooden flooring and rattan furniture, organic fabrics and natural stone décor.

Chair /armchair / canapé

Lying on the bed is always relaxing but I know that many people disapprove of this little indulgence. When planning the design of a couple’s bedroom, I always ask them if they have this no-slugging-on-the-made-bed issue. It sounds ridiculous but lots of couples have regular fights because one of the partners thinks that the bed is intended for sleep only, while the other doesn’t mind to sit on it during the day. If this is the case, there should be something to sit on apart from the bed. Should it be an armchair or a beanbag is up to you.

Spirit

What makes your bedroom so comfortable and appealing? People often come to me and ask to design “something special”. Even though every project is special, I am always at a loss when I hear this request. The room can be made stylish, beautiful, or elegant, but it’s the people who live there who make it special. I firmly believe that your bedroom reflects your personality, and this is your responsibility, not the designer’s. Fortunately, it does not require much effort because you create it from the moment you step across the threshold of this room.

When you dress up your bed, always ensure that you have the right number of throw pillows to make that place more comfortable and inviting. Depending upon your bed size, you can choose a number for throw pillows and select the colour and pattern that would perfectly go with the surroundings.

More Seating

A good spot to sit other than your bed is a must. This particular seating will let you read, relax and spend some alone time with a cup of coffee. A perfect idea to unwind after a long day of work.

A Display Of Your Collections

A cluster of pieces put together to remind you of your memories, your gifts, your achievements and more. A good display will not only add to your décor but also add a big smile on your face.

Fully Prepared Nightstand

A good, interrupted sleep requires a well-stocked nightstand that includes everything you need before and after bed. A glass of water, a book, a lamp and a small plant will certainly complete the setup. You can add more things according to your needs.

A Comfortable Mattress

No item in your bedroom can compete with the importance of a comfortable mattress. It is important for your bed and for your non disturbed sleep. Choose a mattress that complements the height of your double bed designs and your headboard.

Say NO To TV

Your bedroom is place designed for a comfortable night sleep. Keep up to its use and ensure your night time is tech free which not only includes your phone but your television too. This will not keep you up for long hours and provide you with a serene and calm atmosphere.

Theme It

Don’t shy away from the concept of a theme. It is not an idea only for kids. Adults can utilize and make it a must thing while designing their room. It is an influential unifying concept and brings a lot of calmness to your room. A good colour theme is a brilliant idea.

That’s it!
