History Of BMW
The history of BMW starts in Germany in 1910 when the name was different: it was called Otto Flugmaschinenfabrik, then renamed Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG in 1916, and finally became Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) in 1922.
The company started as a car manufacturer, and this is still what they mainly do. The very first product was an engine, but back in the day and after World War I, they also produced household items, farm equipment, and railway brakes.

In 1923, BMW produced its first motorcycle: the BMW R 32. It became the car manufacturer as we knew it today only in 1928, and motorcycles, automobiles, and aircraft engines were its main products during World War II.
After the war, BMW factories were bombed, and because Germany had lost the war, they were banned from making motor engines again, and they survived producing pans, pots, and bicycles.
The production of motorcycles started again in 1948, and car production in 1952.
During the ‘60s, BMW started building the reputation it still has today as a world-leading car brand.

When you manage a car dealer retailer as an employee, as happens with BMW, you need to get orders from above. Your autonomy as a manager is limited by the obligations and restrictions provided by the company. This is very different from being a franchise partner: when you are a franchise partner, you have some restrictions that are discussed at the beginning of your relationship with the main company, but then you are the owner of your retail store, and you have full management autonomy.
Term Of Agreement & Renewal
As mentioned, BMW is not currently open to franchise partnerships. There is no detail available on the term of the agreement and renewal.
